This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

One of the major changes in the healthcare industry happening right now is the switch to electronic health records. Christine Archibald, owner of Management Plus, says although the change is a big one, it also offers improved efficiency for doctors and patients. She's at the forefront of these changes with her software program, designed to provide doctors and staff with an easier way to enter the necessary information.

Management Plus has received a great response from clients who are using it. The program has helped many medical practices have a smoother transition as they change their coding system so it fits international standards, while also implementing electronic health record requirements. In the switch to an international coding system, there are up to 70,000 codes doctors can enter about conditions patients may be experiencing. The program helps iron out the kinks so staff members can do their job more easily.

Christine says it's been fascinating to watch how fast medical professionals are adopting the software solution Management Plus offers. She receives feedback all the time about how easy the program is to use. Input from clients is valuable and used to make adjustments for improvements.

Christine founded Cottonwood Heights-based Management Plus 19 years ago. She had a background in healthcare administration, so she knew how medical offices worked. At the time she was attempting to do a financial analysis for a medical process, only to find it more complicated than anticipated. She created a software solution, which has now been used in more ways than she originally thought, including the implementation of electronic healthcare records, required under new healthcare laws now in effect.

In the age we live in, we literally have information at our fingertips. The data the Internet provides patients with a better understanding than before on health conditions they may be experiencing. That's why implementing electronic health record requirements makes sense and why Management Plus was smart to get involved in the process when they did.
