This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Take a quick inventory of what electronic devices you own. Laptop, desktop or maybe both, tablet, smart phone — most likely they're on your list too and you need headphones and chargers to go with them. As a society, we're pretty connected to our devices....And that also means we're dealing with a mess of cords that come with them.. David Alden saw this problem and decided to do something about it, so he launched Recoil Winders two years ago.

Recoil Winders organizes your cords..... All you do is halve your cord, put it on the hook in the device, pull it back slightly and the device winds it up.... No more tangled headphones or chargers in your purse or carry-on bag when you travel.

At its business core, David says Recoil Winders is a cord management company. While they're focusing on smaller electronic devices, they've already got their eye on expansion into blow dryers, curling irons and shavers or even tackling the cords behind an entertainment center or your office...Within a year they'll be releasing a product designed to wind up extra cords for lamps and other appliances....Not only is this wise for organization, but all the loose and dangling cords present a safety hazard for pets or kids and the elderly.

Recoil Winders was a smash hit on Kickstarter, which provides crowd funding online, where people from around the world can support your project and pre-order products before they're even manufactured. David's goal for Kickstarter was to raise $10,000 in 30 days — what he got was $145,000 which gave him the funds for the tooling on his project.

Travelers are a major market, and he's already in 40 airports but is continually working to expand.... Another big market for expansion is the medical community.

In just a few weeks Recoil Winders will be featured on both QVC and the DIY network... Earlier this year, they made a big splash in the tech section of the New York Times.
