This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

The three Savage brothers started Savage in American Fork in 1946. It was a simple operation then with one truck where they would pick up coal and personally deliver it. Today almost 70 years later the company has over 3,100 employees at their 200 plus locations. The company continues to be owned by the Savage family and is led by a team of family and non-family leaders.

Savage is a supply chain solutions company. Company president and COO Kirk Aubry says their main purpose is figuring out how to best move critical production materials on a large scale. That means they're handling systems with trucks, trains, marine assets and materials management, moving products like petroleum and sulfur. They have a wide customer base covering many industries in the industrial and commercial sectors, doing business around the world.

Think back to the last time you made a major move, whether it was from house to house or changing office locations. Can you imagine what it would be like to move production materials from state to state? It's a complex business, and that's a service the team at Savage is dedicated to providing.

Savage has a delivery system they call S7, or Savage 7. It's designed to be a roadmap for Savage manager to deliver quality service to customers and run a strong business operation. Every day, Savage works to create value for customers, all while making safety their No. 1 hallmark. In fact, they were recently named as one of America's safest companies, and as the Global Pacesetter from Zions Bank.

The three founders wrote their Vision and Legacy statement in 1999 after being in business for over 50 years. It created a compelling and rich set of expectations and became the basis for Savage growth and development. It's a constitution that describes how employees play the role of stewards in the business and is taught so they can see that it's not about them as individuals but as team members. This concept gets reinforced, every year day in and day out.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
