This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

The Training Table likes to refer to themselves as a Utah original since the chain was started right here. Kent Chard founded the business and has been a key part of watching it grow over the last 37 years. He started as x-ray tech and then decided he needed something different. He worked for a restaurant chain with a similar concept in Colorado. He asked if he could franchise the idea and instead, they gave him their whole business model, if you can even imagine. He brought it to Utah, but made some key changes.

It's not uncommon to hear customers tell stories about how the Training Table was the first place they went on a date with their spouse. That's partly due to their famous cheese fries, along with seventeen different burgers, 12 specialty sandwiches, a nice selection of salads plus shakes. As for fries, they offer Ultimate Dipping Sauce, a Training Table creation they've been offering since their launch. They like to say that fry sauce is for rookies.

Right now the business is undergoing some major changes at their restaurants. The Sugar House store renovation finished just a few weeks ago, and Kent's daughter, Stephanie Chard, who operates the business in partnership with her dad, says the response has been strong. Business has already increased just with drive-by traffic. And the South Town store is next on the list with the change that will be completed later this month. Riverton has already been remodeled, but changes will soon follow at the Layton and Cottonwood Heights locations.

Not many people can say that instead of going to medical school, they're now flipping burgers, managing up to 170 employees and loving every minute of it. That's the case for Stephanie who is having the time of her life as partners with Kent in operating The Training Table.

Stephanie is excited to be leading The Training Table in a new direction with revamped restaurants still using their trademark phone system in the booth for ordering. This is a Training Table original, and customers love it.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
