This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

The term "green eyes" refers to what a new generation brings to a business, a fresh perspective. The Busath family of Busath Studio and Gardens on South Temple in Salt Lake City has their "green eyes" with Richard and Bromley Busath.

The focus for this iconic third-generation family business is on families and children and right now they're creating another portrait garden on site, specifically for children's portraits, which is one thing they're known for. At Busath Studio and Gardens, they've photographed many of Utah's business leaders, which is important for the business community; however, families are their main focus. Drake Busath is proudly passing the baton for the company to Richard and Bromley.

Richard feels a deep love for the craft that has permeated the family starting with his grandfather, Don, who founded the business over 40 years ago. He says every session is a new experience with a story waiting to be told. He's also continuing a technique Drake developed at Busath Studio and Gardens to photograph extended families separately and then put them together into one photo. It's been making waves across the industry, as Drake travels around the world teaching workshops on how to use it.

In fact, the Professional Photographers Association of America chose one of their photos done in this style, by staff photographer Laura Bruschke (brush-key), as a Top 8 Portrait this year. It's a major honor and put Busath Studio and Gardens on the map. Busath has their own lab on site where they print all their own photos, for quality purposes as much as anything.

A few years ago Richard and Bromley stepped in to work the business while Drake was sick. It wasn't easy but by the end of that year they were doing more sessions than had been done in their history. The partnership works well — Bromley runs the business side of the operation, and Richard heads the team of three master staff photographers with years of experience. It's one way their fresh perspective is helping take Busath Studio and Gardens to the next level.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
