This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

If you think about it, buses are a critical mode of transportation. Coordinating and moving large groups of people, whether it's for travel or school, takes a lot of work. It helps to have the right equipment, and that's what Lewis Bus Group provides.

Lewis Bus Group sells buses. In addition to Thomas Built school and shuttle buses, they also offer Glaval, StarTrans, Ameritrans and Meridian Specialty Vehicles, plus shuttles to customers in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada and Montana. Some of their major contracts include the University of Utah and UTA. They also do all the maintenance for the U's on-campus shuttles.

Company president Steve Lewis has been in the transportation industry his whole life. He started with his family's charter bus service and soon spotted a new opportunity selling buses literally out of the back door of his family's charter bus company. It was a small operation until 2000 when Jason Morgan joined the company. Within two years, Jason went from rookie salesman to general manager at about the same time that Lewis Bus Group became a separate and fully independent company.

Steady growth followed, and in December 2013, 25 years since selling its first bus, Lewis Bus Group moved into their own expanded, custom-built bus dealership just south of where Redwood Road crosses I-215 in North Salt Lake.

In their new six-bay shop, Lewis Bus Group offers the only repair and maintenance facility in Utah dedicated exclusively to buses. They provide expert care and service for buses of all types and sizes, no matter who sold them, or their age. This is important work since buses are bigger and more complicated to take care of than trucks or cars. Bus riders also trust both their schedules and their lives to the safety and reliability of the bus. The staff of eight ASE-certified technicians at Lewis Bus Group brings years of experience to their job.

Steve says at Lewis Bus Group they take pride in considering themselves as Utah's home transportation team because they have deep roots in Utah.
