This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Downtown has changed quite rapidly, especially following the opening of City Creek Center in 2012. And the new performing arts center is now under construction, which will bring even more traffic to Salt Lake City. New restaurants are popping up, and one of the newest is Red Hot at 165 South Main Street.

Francis Liong (lee-ong), owner of Red Hot, has a long history in the restaurant business. It started with his service in his family's restaurant in Los Angeles. Years later, after also running a trendy restaurant in Beverly Hills, Francis moved to Utah and was looking for opportunities here. He purchased one of downtown's most historic restaurants and has been revitalizing it. But soon, opportunity came knocking again. And that's when he opened Red Hot last fall.

Red Hot is a boutique hot dog shop and is the only place in Utah serving kobi beef hot dogs. This exceptional meat comes from the Snake River Farm in Idaho and allows Francis to offer a menu filled with 12 different styles of gourmet dogs, all for under $6 each. That's a great lunch that beats anything the fast food or chain places can offer..... Plenty of downtown folks are discovering this treasure. Not to mention it's next door to Neumont University, which opened in downtown last fall.

When you come in, you might be tempted by the Hawaii Five-O, which is a bacon-wrapped kobi dog with pineapple, salsa, teriyaki and Japanese mayo. Or maybe you'll fall under the spell of the Little Tokyo, which is grilled and has wasabi mayo, teriyaki and shredded seaweed... If you don't eat meat, Red Hot has you covered with veggie dogs that are outstanding....Francis says if you love great hot dogs, the kobi dogs are so good, you'll never go back to any other kind.

Red Hot at 165 South Main Street is open only for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If your time is limited, you can call ahead or order online so your dog is ready when you walk in.
