That's great news for Lucy Trevino, owner of Lucy's Heavenly Bites in Ogden. In the busy seasons, it's not uncommon for this cupcake shop to go through thousands of cupcakes in a month. It's nothing for her to get cupcake orders of anywhere from 500 to 700 cupcakes. For weddings she's had special orders as big as 1500 cupcakes with 10 flavors.
The frosting is Lucy's signature, and in fact, one of the treats she offers is a cup of frosting with brownie bits in it. She has a rotating menu of over 190 flavors of cupcakes at her shop at 442 2nd Street in Ogden. She serves a strong following of walk-in customers, weddings and other special orders..... Lucy also offers a selection of baked goods to go with the cupcakes....It's a true family business with Lucy's daughter, daughter-in-law and her husband involved....
The business idea came while Lucy was recovering from knee surgery. She had to quit work and found herself bored, especially with an empty nest. Her son requested a gourmet cupcake for his wife's birthday. With no experience in cupcakes, Lucy researched and found that the key to a great cupcake is the frosting, so she made a cream cheese frosting that's to die for... Once her husband took the cupcakes to work, the orders started pouring in, and Lucy knew she had something. It wasn't long until she created Lucy's Heavenly Bites. That was two years ago.
Today, customers can't get enough of the gourmet cupcakes at Lucy's Heavenly Bites, thanks to that incredible cream cheese frosting she created...The recipe hasn't changed from the first cupcake, but she has expanded her menu to include specialty filled cupcakes and fruit cobblers.....
