This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Some can remember the good old days... the days when you got on your computer, entered your password, and waited for your dial up connection to bring you the Internet... Steve McGhie remembers the day of 28.8 and 56k dial up lines... But he didn't see dial up as the future. And in 2002, he created Utah Broadband...

At that time, Steve lived in a community with a lot of professionals... The Internet was just starting to become the dominant force in our lives. Seeing an opportunity, Steve seized the chance to improve the product.... He saw the need emerging, so he took advantage of that need and began to fill it with his new company..... With so many businesses so reliant on the Internet, it would literally cost thousands of dollars a day to lose their Internet connection, so Utah Broadband stepped in with a dependable, cost-effective solution...

Steve's plan is for steady and reliable growth, to ensure they maintain a high-quality, consistent service people and businesses can count on... He wants to create a company that means no one has to worry if prices are going up, or about consistency and stability. As Utah Broadband continues to expand into new markets and grow at a good steady pace, they remain committed to quality and excellent service.

Utah Broadband is very responsive to customers. This is because the company is based locally and hires from the talent pool right here in Utah.... They're adding to Utah's employment base and are one of the reasons Utah's unemployment is sitting at just 4.6 percent. They have 25 employees, and this is because they're efficient, so they don't need big numbers to provide high-level service...

This is a homegrown company, and Steve says while they're not the biggest, they work hard at serving customers.... A good measure of how this is working is that almost 60 percent of Utah Broadband's business comes from word of mouth, which provides a strong testimony of the product and service...

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
