Tony Chen has always been passionate about food.... Fact is, he's worked with Japanese food since he was 16 years old...Now, with his wife, Tina Yu, he's created Tona Sushi Bar and Grill, a popular Ogden eatery, open since March 2004 on Historic 25th Street in Ogden...
Tony learned the industry from the restaurants he worked at during college. It was an education that paid off...Tona Sushi Bar and Grill's best known dish is the Green Globe, which has spicy tuna, crab salad, mixed together, and wrapped around thin slices of avocado, put into a ball and served with orange tobiko, wasabi tobiko and pepper threads.... As you can imagine, this offers a lot of flavor, and people from all over are visiting to taste this sensational dish....In fact, the Green Globe was also featured on a billboard for Ogden Restaurant Week this past April...
There are a number of dishes not on the menu, and customers like to ask for the "secret menu".....They also have different specials during the week, as well as a large selection of special sushi rolls. Tina says Tona supports local farmers as much as possible with the vegetables they use, and they have an emphasis on sustainability with all their supplies.
Tina and Tony love being located on Historic 25th Street in Ogden with its community-oriented business owners working hard to bring events in...In September, it's the Harvest Moon Festival. There's also the farmer's market along with many other events designed to appeal to families and those who love a vibrant downtown area... Businesses like Tona are an example of why this past April Ogden made the Top 10 on the Numbers Economic Index, a monthly measure of economic vitality, ranking the top-rated metropolitan areas in the United States.
This year Tona Sushi Bar and Grill received Best of State 2013 for Best Sushi. They've also been recognized with the Indie Ogden Award and have won best sushi and best date night. Tona was also recently featured in the Boston Globe....
