This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

It started simply enough.....Erma Stewart's sister invited her to try out the grocery business..... At the same time her husband Percy's doctor told him he needed to do something different... Even though switching to the grocery business meant he worked the same amount of hours, the Stewarts persisted in their new business, so much that they eventually bought out Erma's sister...... And that's how Percy and Erma Stewart launched Stewart's Marketplace in 1963, the beginning of what was to become one of Roosevelt's most iconic businesses.

This grocery store has a long history in Roosevelt, with several owners prior to Percy and Erma. It opened in 1913 originally, so they're celebrating the 100th anniversary of Roosevelt this year, and 50 years for the Stewart family....Right now they're just finishing a complete remodel of their facility, a major project since the current building is just under 80,000 square feet...

Inside, Stewart's Marketplace captures many different ideas... They have a full sporting goods store, Ace Hardware, Radio Shack and the grocery store.... Stewart's Marketplace offers clothing and work clothes along with shoes and boots...

What sets them apart is their ties with the community, belief in individuals, and the legacy passed on through owner Mark Stewart's parents to him and his brother, Percy, who co-own the store... They believe people are their most important asset...

An important focus is families, so every year Stewart's Marketplace sponsors what is now the community Easter egg hunt at the store, as well as a special Halloween carnival..... There's also an appreciation barbecue every year..... These events are designed to give families a chance to have fun together without spending any money.....And families work side by side with employees to help make the operation successful....

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
