This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

In 1976, David Jorgensen started a little business fabricating and installing countertops. He worked out of his truck for 20 years and later moved his company, Topcraft, into a 1,200-square-foot garage.

David's three sons decided the company held great potential and joined their father, initially fabricating and installing countertops. They would take an order, leave the little office and, while installing, have calls forwarded to their cell phones. Topcraft grew and was renamed Bedrock Quartz Surfaces. Word spread about the quality of the work and the dependability of the Jorgensen family, and the company grew.

Today that 1,200-square-foot garage is a 25,000-square-foot facility. Dad and his sons are joined by 41 employees and complete more than five kitchens daily. Current production levels have reached nearly 400 square feet of granite and quartz countertops per day. An immediate goal is to increase that production to 1,000 feet per day.

David and his sons, Steve, Alan and Eric, use granite slabs from local quarries and two quartz products, Zodiaq and Cambria, to create natural quartz and stone surfaces. I walked through the impressive showroom in West Jordan and saw fireplace surrounds, shower and tub enclosures and, of course, the beautiful countertops.

I asked Steve Jorgensen about some of the noteworthy jobs they have done. He assures me every job is important but some of their higher profile projects include the Cabella's building in Lehi, Larry H. Miller Lexus of Lindon, the Megaplex 20 in South Jordan, the Hilton Extended Hotel in Salt Lake City and the Chateaux in Deer Valley.

Bedrock Quartz Surfaces in West Jordan is a great story of an entrepreneurial father, a dedicated family who enjoys working and building a company together and a company with a reputation for doing exactly what they say they will do.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
