As teenagers, both Kristi Grooms and her brother, Michael Green, worked at Go Purified Water and Ice. They never thought this summer job would become a permanent part of their livelihood … but that's exactly what happened. When the owner put it up for sale two years ago, they bought it and now run it together.
When you visit the West Jordan retail store, you taste the result of taking municipal water, and purifying it through a twelve-step process called reverse osmosis. Minerals, copper, salt and other impurities are removed — and the result is … water tastes like water should.
Many people store water for use in case of an emergency. At Go Purified Water and Ice, they want to make water storage as simple as possible … So, they triple seal at no extra charge. This means a seal underneath cap and another on top as well as writing the date to remind customers when they need to rotate their water. It's designed to last for 20 years.
Kristi is also proud of the way her company treats their employees.. There's seven who help operate the store, and they enjoy random bonuses, have pizzas delivered and can offer innovations and suggestions which Kristi and Michael work to implement.
Go Purified Water and Ice is so committed to clean water that they test city water weekly to find the level of t/d/s or total dissolved solids. Those are basically anything that can be in solid form in your water. Now you see why purification is so important.
There's also ozoninated water, a purified product that works as a natural disinfectant..... It kills all bacteria, so many people use it to wipe counters and other surfaces ..... It can also be used to clean out water bottles.
The community is excited about Go Purified Water and Ice. It's young entrepreneurs like this that are driving Utah's unemployment rate to be one of the lowest in the nation.
