This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Organizations don't outperform their leaders; they reflect them, and when it's all said and done the leader's role is to maintain a competitive advantage, according to Dr. Timothy Clark, well-known author and business consultant.

This statement exemplifies the impact of Dr. Cynthia Bioteau, president and CEO of Salt Lake Community College. As a community, we are so fortunate to have outstanding higher education institutions. Salt Lake Community College is a great example with more than 60,000 students, 13 campuses and sites, including applied technology, an eCampus and nearly 1,000 continuing education sites located throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

The ongoing success and the improvements are due to their leadership who sets up strategic planning and develops meaningful partnerships within the community, government, educational institutions and over 500 Utah businesses and school districts. Salt Lake Community College, established in 1948, is the largest supplier of workforce development programs in Utah. Their goal is to advance the curriculum of SLCC and inspire the beginning college experience for their student base. This positive direction and results have increased over the last eight years, since Dr. Bioteau arrived on campus.

Cynthia Bioteau has over 35 years of education and business experience. Even though she's had to make some tough decisions on underperforming programs, she simultaneously launched initiatives propelling Salt Lake Community College's reputation as a serious educational institution. This includes programs like teaming up with other universities to offer the educational extension of their curriculum so the students of Salt Lake Community College can continue their education.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
