Thanksgiving Point is one of three golf courses in the state and several others out of state Vanguard manages.... Others include the Ranches Golf Course in Eagle Mountain, just west of Lehi, and Coral Canyon, a high-end resort in southern Utah with a public golf course....
Mark says the company offers good synergy, with marketing, staffing, accounting and even agronomy. ....They're maintaining 800 acres of turf and employ experts with related degrees to help with this process.... It really does involve more than advertising, marketing and branding.... They have to make sure that in each venue, their customer service is impeccable, their food is excellent and each course is a great experience.
Vanguard Golf Management was founded in 2002. It's the largest golf management company in the state and has an average 200 employees.... All of the courses they manage are fully operational.
Golf is something Mark wanted to do so he started at the young age of 10.... He learned on public golf courses in Utah and knew he wanted to be a professional and teach the game he knew... He became a PGA member in 1999 and loved the teaching aspect of the game.... Later, he realized there were more opportunities in the business side of the game so he launched Vanguard Golf Management.
He also hosts a TV and radio show and has been featured on national golf media with well-known personalities nationwide. Mark says what's helped him to be successful is to take a different approach to branding and strategic partners and that's why Vanguard Golf Management is where it's at today.
