This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

When was the last time you had the opportunity to see an Andy Warhol painting close up? Or how about one of Albert Bierstadt's famous Western paintings from the late 19th Century? Now you can see both by visiting the Utah Museum of Fine Arts' new exhibition, "From Bierstadt to Warhol: American Indians in the West."

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts has brought in more than 100 works of oil paintings, sculptures and works on paper mostly from the Diane and Sam Stewart Collection called "Bierstadt to Warhol: American Indians in the West." It's an exhibit covering a century of Romanticism to 20th Century Realism.

"Bierstadt to Warhol" examines depictions of American Indian identity, by both natives and non-natives, in a diverse range of styles. The subject matter is mostly focusing on the Pueblo people of Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico, but many other important and impactful portraits of American Indians are also included. You'll also see a wide range of tones, from romantic and ideal to utterly real, sometimes even taking on sensitive subject matter that's an integral part of contemporary American Indian identity.

This exhibition includes a variety of work from diverse artists, including Albert Bierstadt, Joseph Sharp, Andy Warhol, Shonto Begay and many others. It's on display at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts from now through early August. You can see Warhol's "Sitting Bull" or Navajo artist Begay's realistic depiction of contemporary American Indians.

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts can rival museums anywhere on the same parity, and here are a few reasons why: 19,000 objects, over 130,000 visitors each year and education outreach that has extended to around 50,000 children and educators across the state of Utah. A common misunderstanding is that people think the museum is only for the U of U. While the university is an important focus, the museum has extraordinary community outreach throughout Utah and beyond.

Be sure to check out "Bierstadt to Warhol: American Indians in the West" from now through August.
