This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Chicks Caf on Main Street in Heber City, Utah is a classic hometown diner. If you have a hankerin' for ham on the bone or eggs, buckwheat pancakes, chicken fried steak or scones … this is the place for you.

It all started 60 years ago when Gaylen and Elva Wright, who had worked there as teenagers, decided to buy the place. Chicks Caf has been family-owned and operated ever since with a third-generation clientele. Some of their original customers are now bringing in their grandkids and are happy to share memories of coming in on Saturday morning for ham and eggs.

Today Elva's daughter, Shelly Ryan and her sister-in-law, Lynette Wright, own the restaurant. Their mom worked at Chicks Caf for her entire life, from the time she was a young waitress until later when she was in the back making scones, soups, pies and everything else. Many of the waitresses still talk about how Gaylen taught them to work with his white-glove inspections.

Apparently Shelly and Lynette are like Lucy and Ethel and are always up for a laugh. You can see them in action seven days a week at Chicks Caf. When things happen … their philosophy is that it's better to laugh than get upset.

During the Olympics 10 years ago, Shelly says it was a great time to be at Chicks Caf. They had a TV on all the time, broadcasting events and were packed every night. The Bar J Wranglers, who performed at Cowboy Poetry a few weeks ago, came in and were greeted like royalty. That's the charm in full swing at a small town favorite café. Lifestyle businesses like Chicks Caf are an important economic driver in the United States and contribute variety and personality, to our national business climate.

An important are of the business Shelly and Lynette are developing is catering. Their specialty is intimate gatherings. Right now is a great time to book space at Chicks Caf for holiday parties. You can also order homemade pies and other baked goods.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
