The military is a significant contributor to Utah's economy. We have five major military installations in the state, including Hill Air Force Base, Dugway Proving Ground and Camp Williams. These defense-related expenditures and payrolls circulate through the Utah economy, creating jobs and sustaining communities.
The Hiring Our Heroes job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy. This is a job fair for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, guard and reserve members and military spouses. Oh, and it's free for both employers and job seekers. Around 150 companies will be actively recruiting.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce started the Hiring Our Heroes program a little over a year ago with the idea of it becoming a movement throughout the country. Around 1,300 veterans and military spouses came to that first fair, and now they've held over 300 fairs across the U.S., including the one tomorrow at the South Towne Expo Center.
With such a strong military presence in Utah, it makes sense for us to have a Hiring Our Heroes job fair here. Utah is home to over 161,000 veterans, and these are folks we need to take care of. For more information or to check on upcoming fairs, visit uschamber.com/hiringourheroes.
