This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Something Americans are known for are our big ideas and innovations. Take Dr. Ralph Montgomery as an example .... Over 20 years ago he realized the underprivileged in Salt Lake City had a tremendous need for dental services with nowhere to go ... He didn't think healthy smiles should be limited to those with means, especially when dental health is so tied to overall health ... So, in 1990, he created Salt Lake Donated Dental Services.

Today, Salt Lake Donated Dental Services provides donated and discounted dental services for adults and children throughout Utah .... Fact is, many of these people have nowhere else to go to get these services .... But it's not just Dr. Montgomery .... In over 20 years, Salt Lake Donated Dental Services has grown to 65 volunteers, 11 employees and two different programs.

What makes this special is, these are full-time working dentists who volunteer their expertise on their days off. And they provide all the same services you'd find in a private dental office. Since almost 95 percent of their operating hours are provided by volunteers, you're always welcome to help.

You might wonder why this is so important ... It's because dental care affects everything we do .... From speech and language development to how and what we eat to how new babies develop. Healthy mouths mean a healthier population.

Today, Executive Director Stephanie Jensen leads a program that has seen over 5,000 patients this year alone .... And those patients are all under the poverty level. Of course, helping people is second nature to Stephanie especially after spending time in the Peace Corps. She's a natural fit to lead this program.

Salt Lake Donated Dental Services is there for anyone who needs the care .... Today, that means discovering their Facebook page, where they update information and regularly offer details about how to contact them .... They're also updating the webpage so patients with computer access and the Internet can check the calendar for availability online.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
