This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Today Caleb Chapman Music operates 10 of the state's most successful and recognized youth ensembles. This includes the award-winning Crescent Super Band and the VooDoo Orchestra. These talented musicians play for corporate groups and major events, like the Governor's Gala, all over the state. The Crescent Super Band has been recognized as the best youth big band in the world and has won numerous Best of State Awards. In fact, they've been invited to play at Carnegie Hall in New York next May.

For the first time this year, Caleb Chapman Music will be releasing a Christmas CD featuring 10 tracks from the Crescent Super Band. It hits the stores this month and features their take on Christmas music in a big band/swing style. Caleb is also anticipating the release of his first book about teaching jazz, called The Articulate Jazz Musician later this year. It's written in partnership with Jeff Coffin, a three-time Grammy winner and member of the Dave Matthews Band.

A key principle for these groups is performing professionally. And the gigs they're hired for help pay for their travel and touring costs. In the summertime, Caleb keeps the groups constantly out on the road. They've played everywhere from Washington, D.C. to San Francisco to places all over Europe including Italy and France. Caleb Chapman Music groups played for 10,000 people in Italy once.

Caleb's goal with Caleb Chapman Music is to create as many once-in-a-lifetime experiences as possible for these kids while he works with them. It's a challenge since these are junior high and high-school age kids, so the band is constantly changing. However, Caleb says these are kids and every time they pick up an instrument it's an experience.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
