This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

When Harold Jones decided to create a paint and glass company, he went to his parents hoping to borrow some money. They believed in his idea so much, they took out a loan for $300 using their furniture as collateral, and Harold created Utah Valley Glass and Paints. Now, almost 75 years later, the business is Jones Paint and Glass and has grown to include seven locations throughout Utah.

When Harold founded the company, his philosophy was to help the customer from start to finish. One of the ways that Jones Paint and Glass practices this is by offering a 24 hour board-up service. If a business is broken into, the employees of Jones Paint and Glass will come and board up the damage to secure the building until it can be repaired. Current company president David Jones, Harold's grandson, has even had the Provo Police Department call him and ask if he'll board up break-ins.

David manages over 200 employees. If you were to survey these employees, you'd find they've been around a long time, 12 years on average. After spending so much time with the company, much of the crew now sees themselves as part of the Jones family. Their homes often have products from Jones Paint and Glass, so they can speak about the service from a personal experience.

David says his company can do just about any residential or commercial glass and paint work, as well as paint for automotive and industrial needs. They also manufacture their own vinyl windows. From commercial requests, like installing glass in the Provo Airport to small residential needs, like custom showers, this group works on all types and sizes of projects. Some projects you might recognize include Rocky Shores at Hogle Zoo, Central Utah Medical Clinic in Provo and two stores in City Creek Center.

Most of the business that comes to Jones Paint and Glass is referral-based. They also work with contractors, and Jones Paint and Glass has a customer base as far as Wyoming, Nevada and Idaho.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
