I think I must be the only person left on planet earth that hadn't tried Pat's BBQ at 155 W. Commonwealth Ave., or 2125 South, in Salt Lake City. Owner Patrick Barber is on a roll. He is single-handedly putting Utah on the map with the well-known Food Network where his restaurant was featured. He went toe-to-toe with host Guy Fieri (fee-air-ee) of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and managed to keep his secret in preparing some of the best barbeque in Utah.
Not only was Pat's BBQ featured on the Food Network, it's also won Salt Lake Magazine Best Comfort Food in 2011 and Best BBQ and Best Ribs in City Weekly. Patrick is used to world-class completion so there's no wondering if it's good, and he gets recognition for it.
He literally started his BBQ stand on the streets in 2003 and now has a hopping place with free live music almost every day. This place looks like a barbeque joint. You feel like you've stepped back in time, and it makes you want to roll up your sleeves and munch on one of the famous ribs or barbeque chicken with his secret rub. Patrick has spent time in other states like Missouri and Tennessee where he continued to develop his love for great barbeque and American music. At Pat's BBQ he has a stage where he likes to feature local and national artists here in Salt Lake City.
