The rise of digital media, including electronic readers, has created challenges in the binding and printing industry. Express Solutions Bindery is just the right size so when the contraction in the market came, they could survive. Several of the industry's largest companies couldn't shrink fast enough to fit the changing market conditions.
In talking with general manager Troy Jolley, he says today Express Solutions' bottom line is healthier than ever. They are one of the largest book binders in the western region with 50 employees and are one of only a few full-service trade binders. He and his father, Dean, operate Express Solutions Bindery in partnership, and he says it's great working with his dad. They've worked together since he was 12.
In serving a changing and challenged market, Troy and Dean were looking for areas in the print market where customer needs weren't being fulfilled. They discovered an opening in screen printing, and their company was agile enough to fit into this new business platform so they opened Express Screen Print almost two years ago. Express Screen Print has already grown to 10 employees and will soon add more.
Express Screen Print can now provide any type of customized apparel. Thanks to a brand new website, expressscreenprint.com, and top of the line equipment, it's now easier than ever for you to design your own T-shirt. They bought a brand new large format apparel printer called a DTG. This is a big deal because the DTG is designed for short runs, so you can now get beautiful full-color designs for a better price. It's also one of the first of its type in the state.
