SANDY —Timpanogos beat Mountain View 2-0 in the 4A soccer semifinals to advance to Friday's state championship at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy.

Timpanogos has been dominant all year, going 14-1-1 with their only loss to Skyline — who is playing in the other semifinal game against East.

Timpanogos controlled the ball for the majority of the game, but head coach Natalyn Lewis has seen her team play much better this season, "We played okay today. It wasn't our best game, but perhaps we're saving our best for Friday (the state championship) and I'll take that."

It means we deserve it. We've made it here and we can take it.

–Rachelle Warner

Imerida Williams scored the first goal of the game in the 24th minute for the lone goal of the first half.

In the second half, senior Rachelle Warner would add an insurance goal with some nifty dribbling and would shoot it inside the left post to wrap up scoring for the day.

The championship game is not new to this group of seniors. They've reached the title game in three of their four years — missing it as juniors.

"It just means that much more to get there. It means we deserve it. We've made it here and we can take it," said Rachelle Warner.

"It means the world to us because we've worked so hard every day in practice to get to what we've finally worked for," said Imerida Williams.
