WOODS CROSS, Utah — Emil Cuello scored in the 47th minute as Orem defeated East 1-0 in the 4A boys soccer semifinal.

This marks Orem's first appearance in a boys soccer championship since the UHSAA made boys soccer a sanctioned sport in 1983.

The Tigers won a state title in 1982 when soccer was a club sport and current head coach Ed Louder was a member of that team.

Orem controlled possession for much of the first half but could not capitalize on several scoring opportunities. They finally broke through seven minutes into the 2nd half when great passing set up the goal by Cuello.

The Tigers will face Bountiful Thursday night, 7pm at Rio Tinto Stadium for the 4A championship.
