Back at the Thomas and Mack
gregWRUBELL
March 10th, 2010 @ 2:23pm

After taking a morning flight that also carried the Utah Runnin' Ute basketball team, the BYU Cougars touched down in Las Vegas and were soon at the Thomas and Mack Center for media obligations, and a practice at the adjacent Cox Pavilion.

You can hear group interviews with head coach Dave Rose, Jimmer Fredette and Jackson Emery by clicking on their audio links in the "Cougar Cuts" box to the right.

Mar 10th BYU Head Coach Dave Rose
Mar 10th BYU G Jimmer Fredette
Mar 10th BYU G Jackson Emery

Fredette on his health: "I'm feeling pretty good, doing well, no stomach problems, energy levels are fine, I'm excited to get ready for this tournament (and) get it started...I'm ready to go."

*******

Emery on flying with the Utes: "For the most part, there weren't any grudges or any hatred...it helps when you beat 'em two times; it doesn't make it too awkward." After I jokingly speculated that he might have sat next to Marshall Henderson, Emery laughed and said "I did see Marshall, but I didn't sit next to him."

*******

Rose on tournament play: "When you get to this time of year, everybody understands how important it is to win games, not just your team." He added "we've been really, really successful in this tournament here."

*******

Rose on the imapct of a MWC Tournament title on Selection Sunday: "I don't put a lot of stock or pressure or emphasis on that, because I don't know how it works...you would think that if you're going into the NCAA Tournament after you've won your conference tournament, you would have a better seed."

*******

Rose on traveling with the Utes: "The ticket agent... asked me if thought we needed another plane... I said no, we'll be fine."

On a personal side note, I don't thank the readers of "Cougar Tracks" nearly enough for making this blog a frequently-read feature of ksl.com.

Since its debut two-and-a-half years ago, readership has continued to climb, and in the first nine-plus days of March 2010, we have already surpassed the page view total for all of March 2009, for example.

Thanks again for making "Cougar Tracks" part of your daily internet routine!
