Asked about his disappointment in not winning the league's Player of the Year award, Fredette said it's "not too bad...Darington had a great year." Fredette was asked if the snub might serve to motivate him at the conference tournament, and he said "maybe a little bit, it could definitely motivate you, obviously...but I wasn't just quite deserving for it."
Fredette added that "New Mexico was obviously the best team this year, in the league, so that's "kinda why (Hobson) got it," referring to the POY award. "You know, you don't worry about it, though...you just go out and play, be ready for the next game ahead."

He was questioned about his health, and Fredette said multiple times "I'm fine," "I feel fine," or "I feel pretty good." He said his weight is not "up to par", but that he expects to be ready for go for three games in three nights in Las Vegas.
