It was appropriate that BYU lit up the scoreboard in its 107-77 win at TCU on Saturday, for this year's BYU offense proved to the best in the 11-year history of the Mountain West Conference.

*******

BYU has set new league records for scoring offense and scoring margin in conference play, while the Cougars are on pace to set the same marks in overall play as well.

MWC Games

BYU Scoring Offense: 81.2 ppg (previous record: 80.9 ppg, UNLV in 2000)

BYU Scoring Margin: +15.4 ppg (previous record: +12.1, Utah in 2005)

--

Overall Games

BYU Scoring Offense: 83.1 ppg (previous record: 82.8 ppg, Wyoming in 2000)

BYU Scoring Margin: +18.7 (previous record: +13.0, Air Force in 2007)

*******

The 107 points scored on Saturday are the most BYU has scored in a conference road game since February 21st, 1980, when BYU won 111-86 at Colorado State.

Before last night, the last time BYU topped 100 in a conference road game was January 16, 1993, when the Cougars won 103-68 at Air Force.

Before last night, the last time BYU scored 100 points in any conference game was February 22nd, 2006, when the Cougars beat SDSU 100-90 in Provo during Dave Rose's rookie season.

*******

BYU has played exactly half of its 26 games away from home, and has gone 13-3 in those games. The 13 away/neutral wins tie a MWC record, and that record will fall with BYU's next victory.

BYU's ten away wins ties a MWC also set by New Mexico this season.

BYU played more away/neutral games than any other team in the MWC; SDSU and CSU were next with 15 away/neutral games on their schedules.

*******

BYU's 13 away/neutral wins are second all-time to the school record set by the 1950-51 NIT title team, which went 15-8 away from Provo--that's 23 of 37 games on a foreign floor.

BYU's 28 wins this season also tie the school record for victories in a single season, set by that team in 1950-51 (28-9).

*******

BYU is also on pace to set the school record for single season win percentage. The current mark was set by the 1979-80 team, which went 24-5 for a win rate of 82.8%.

At 28-4, BYU is currently at 90.1%.

*******

Last night's leftovers...

: BYU has had three different bench players set career scoring highs in three consecutive games; Mike Loyd had 19 v. UNM, Brandon Davies had 21 at Utah, and Charles Abouo had 22 at TCU. Abouo's 22 points doubled his previous career high.

: BYU's 61 bench points were a season-high.

: rallying from an early 18-4 deficit at TCU, BYU went on the following separate first-half runs: 9-0, 7-0, 9-0, 11-0.

: BYU has won 14 of its 28 games by 20+ points.

: BYU has won 23 of 28 games by 10+ points. The only exceptions were +5 (at Fresno State), +6 (v. Nevada), +4 (v. UNLV), +6 (at UTEP), and +2 (at SDSU).

: BYU has had a run of at least 10 unanswered points in 20 of 32 games.

: BYU has held a double-digit lead in 27 of 32 games. BYU is 27-0 when holding a double-digit lead at any point in the game; 1-4 when failing to lead by double digits.

*******

I asked Dave Rose what he told his team during one of the two early timeouts he called at TCU last night. His answer: "I told them TCU was on pace for 200 points. I told them that's too many."

*******

UNLV has joined BYU and New Mexico in gaining "lock" status on Joe Lunardi's updated Bracketology grid.

*******

BYU made it through the entire regular season without a single "bad loss" (loss to a team ranked 100 or lower in the current RPI).

In fact, all four of BYU's losses were to teams in the RPI top 50, and there are now only four teams nationally yet to lose a single game to a team ranked lower than 50 in the current RPI:

Kansas (RPI: 1, 18-0 v. 51<)

Syracuse (RPI: 3, 21-0 v. 51<)

Texas A&M (RPI: 12, 16-0 v. 51<)

BYU (RPI: 23, 23-0 v. 51<))
