SALT LAKE CITY -- The recession has more Utahns turning to the government for help in supplementing their income.
Utahns against Hunger tells KSL more than 86,000 Utah households received nearly $27 million in food stamps last month.
That's nearly a 50 percent increase from July of last year and nearly a 4 percent increase just from June.
Officials with the Utah Food Bank say they've seen a 40 percent increase in people needing food help as well.
