COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) -- Nick LaBrocca scored his first goal
in nearly a year and Kosuke Kimura added his first of the season to
lead the Colorado Rapids to a 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on
Saturday night.
Colin Clark assisted on both goals for the Rapids (3-2-2), who
ended a three-match winless streak during which they scored two
goals.
LaBrocca broke a scoreless tie in the 11th minute with his first
goal since June 28, 2008, at Columbus. Kimura found the back of the
net in the 60th minute.
That was more than enough offense for goalkeeper Matt Pickens,
who got his first shutout of the season and 12th of his career.
Real Salt Lake (3-3-0) has yet to score in three road games, but
has 12 in three games at home. RSL was coming off the biggest win
in franchise history, 6-0 over New England last Saturday.
Starting goalkeeper Nick Rimando left in the 32nd minute due to
a severe cut on his right hand, which was stepped on during a
pileup in front of the net. Kyle Reynish replaced Rimando and
finished the game.
Defender Jamison Olave was sent off in the 41st minute, getting
a red card for serious foul play.
