Hi, We live in Salt Lake and we have a hobby farm in West Fielding. Is there any way to get rainfall amounts for Fielding? Where is the closest weather station to two miles west of the Fielding School house? Could we get the currant temps as well? Thanks, Dennis H

This is a pretty common question and we've talked about it before but we'll do it again to spread the word to find this info. Many small towns don't have temperature sensors that the public really uses or a lot of people don't even know where to find the data. There are sensors hooked up to networks, some are operated by UDOT and other organizations like schools or churches, but sometimes, we just don't know where to find all that info.

There's two ways to find data from smaller towns. The Weather Underground and the Utah Mesonet. The Utah Mesonet is harder to use but once you figure it out, it goes smoothly.

Check out the first link to Weather Underground. Now if you type in Fielding you'll probably pull up Logan's data the closest reporting station. This may or may not be of interest to you.

The second link to the Utah Mesonet is great, you'll dig this one. You might have to change the date once you get there or it might be just fine and current. When you get there you'll see a very big web page with a ton of town names. The towns are organized by county. You might be able to find something closer to Fielding here.

The Utah Mesonet is free and you can look up historical information as well as current data. Also the NWS puts out a temperature and precipitation summary each day, you can look it up at the NWS site on the pull down menu on the right side of their webpage, this is very useful and has some smaller towns on it too.
