KAYSVILLE — Interstate 15 in Kaysville reopened after two separate accidents within a mile of each other forced it to close Wednesday night.

State troopers said a car with three people inside veered off the road just north of 200 North in Kaysville around 8:30 p.m. The woman who was driving was treated at the scene for minor injuries then released. A man in the back seat was taken by ambulance to Ogden Regional Hospital. A man in the front seat was flown to a hospital in critical condition.

The freeway closed for the first time when that medical helicopter landed.

Just as the freeway reopened and traffic started to move, a man in a pickup slammed into the back of a semitrailer. He was critically injured, and the freeway closed again while a helicopter landed to take him to a hospital.

Officers remind drivers to be attentive and pay attention to what's happening in front of them. They advise motorists to keep speeds reasonable and try to keep plenty of distance in front to make decisions to slow down if necessary.
