RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) — Nick Mayo scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Asante Gist scored 22 points with five assists, and Eastern Kentucky outlasted Tennessee Tech for a 75-71 win in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday.

Mayo, who made 12 of 18 from the field and 3 of 5 3-pointers for Eastern Kentucky (12-19, 5-11 Ohio Valley), became the first sophomore in school history and 35th overall to reach 1,000 points.

Tennessee Tech (12-19, 8-8) held its largest lead at 11-8 with 13:06 left in the first half, but Mayo hit back-to-back jumpers to give the Colonels the lead for good. Eastern Kentucky shot 57.7 percent in the first half for a 39-35 lead at the break and led by 12 with 2:21 remaining.

Mason Ramsey led the Golden Eagles with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Hakeem Rogers added 15 points.

Mayo made his second of two free throws with three seconds left to eclipse his previous career high of 30 set in a win over Marshall last December.
