DENVER (AP) — Darell Combs scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half when IUPUI rallied to defeat Denver 83-72 on Sunday, assuring itself of a berth in the Summit League tournament.
Matt O'Leary and Kellon Thomas added 12 points each, Ron Patterson scored 11 and T.J. Henderson 10 for the Jaguars (12-16, 6-8), who shot 51 percent overall and even better from 3-point range, going 10 of 19 from the arc, while making 21 of 26 free throws.
Daniel Amigo scored 26 points for the second-place Pioneers (16-11, 8-6), who trail co-leaders North Dakota State and South Dakota (both 10-4), with two regular-season games remaining. Jake Pemberton added 16 points.
Denver led 35-31 at halftime but the Jaguars grabbed the lead for good 40-38 on Henderson's jumper with 16½ minutes to go. A Patterson 3-pointer put IUPUI up 67-55 with five minutes left with the lead reaching 16 points.
