Copeland scores 25, Maryland-Eastern Shore beats Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Bakari Copeland and Derrico Peck combined to score 27 second-half points, Ryan Andino finished with 17, including four 3-pointers, and Maryland-Eastern Shore beat Florida A&M 86-79 on Monday night.

Copeland had 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting while Peck made 7 of 9 from the field and scored a career-high 15.

Nasir Core had all of his six points and added two assists and two steals during a 16-4 run that trimmed FAMU's deficit to 81-77 with 54 seconds left. Andino made 1 of 2 free throws and, after the Rattlers missed two shots on the other end, Copeland made a pair of foul shots to put the Hawks up seven with 17 seconds to go. Marcus Barham's jumper made it 84-79 before Andino hit two free throws to seal it.

Desmond Williams had 19 points, on 9-of-15 shooting, seven rebounds and two steals for FAMU (4-15, 2-4), which has lost four in a row. Justin Ravenel, who came in averaging 8.5 points per game, scored 18 — including four 3-pointers. He has made 13 of 25 from behind the arc while averaging 17.7 points over the last three games.

UMES, which never trailed, took a 41-32 into the break and led 64-43 with 13:05 to go.
