CLEVELAND (AP) — Bobby Word and Demonte Flannigan combined for 45 points as Cleveland State raced away from Western Michigan 85-62 Wednesday night.

Flannigan, the Vikings' lone senior, scored 20 points and has been in double figures in three of the four games he's appeared in this season. Word, a junior college transfer who sat out last season, poured in a season-best 25 points on 9-for-12 shooting including five 3-pointers.

Rob Edwards added 15 points.

Cleveland State (3-5) fell behind early but battled back to lead 37-31 by halftime and opened the second period with a 12-4 burst.

The lead had grown to 20 when Western Michigan (2-6) coach Steve Hawkins sat most of the starters in favor of younger players. Thirteen Broncos played and 11 scored.

Thomas Wilder led with 12 points.

Cleveland State blocked six shots, made 10 steals and forced 16 turnovers.
