LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville coach Rick Pitino says senior forward/center Mangok Mathiang is out until November and that sophomore forward Ray Spalding has undergone groin surgery to correct an unspecified problem.

The 6-foot-11 Mathiang missed the final 21 games of last season after breaking his left foot in December. In a Monday blog post analyzing the Cardinals' frontcourt, Pitino writes that the team's co-captain will miss the summer but should be ready to play on Nov. 1.

Pitino writes that the 6-10 Spalding had surgery that set the sophomore back in strength and weight gain. The coach added he expects to have "Psycho Ray" back in no time and that he's working to reduce turnovers and improve his jumper after he averaged 5.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game last season.
