Savannah State upends South Carolina State 60-57

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Troyce Manassa scored 15 points, had four rebounds, three assists and three blocks to lead Savannah State past South Carolina State 60-57 on Saturday night.

The lead changed hands late when Manassa hit a layup for a 53-52 lead, Greg Mortimer put the Bulldogs back up on a layup before Dexter McClanahan converted a layup.

Ed Stephens made two free throws to give South Carolina State the lead and Manassa scored again to give Savannah State a 57-56 lead with 3:48 to play. Neither team scored a field goal from then on, and the Tigers won it at the free-throw line.

Javaris Jenkins added 15 points for Savannah State (10-13, 6-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic). Chris Martin added 11 for the Tigers.

South Carolina State (14-12, 9-3) got 16 points from Eric Eaves and 11 each from Gabe McCray and Greg Mortimer.
