CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Rashawn Thomas scored a career-high 34 points with 12 rebounds, three steals and four blocked shots to help Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beat Houston Baptist 83-76 Monday night.

Ehab Amin had 18 points, on 8-of-12 shooting, Bryce Douvier scored 14 and Hameed Ali added 11 with eight assists and six steals. Ali came into the game averaging 2.68 steals per game, third in Division I.

Ali scored four in a row to spark a 10-4 spurt which put the Islanders (18-5, 9-2 Southland Conference) up 71-62 with five minutes left.

Colter Lasher's layup with 22 seconds left trimmed Houston Baptist's deficit to six, but the Huskies would get no closer.

Anthony Odunsi scored 21 and Lasher added 15 for HBU (14-10, 8-3), which lost its third in a row.

Jourdan Stickler and Josh Ibarra — who have 38 combined starts this season — missed the game for Houston Baptist.
