ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) — Torloft Thomas scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half as Alabama State overcame a 14-point halftime deficit and beat Mississippi Valley State 73-62 on Saturday night.

Thomas made four 3-pointers, finished 5 of 5 from the floor and made all three free-throw attempts in the second half. Tony Armstrong added 13 points for Alabama State (8-14, 3-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which has won consecutive games since snapping its five-game skid. Jamel Waters had 12 points and Bobby Brown 10 for the Hornets.

Marcus Romain scored 17 points to lead Mississippi Valley State (4-20, 4-6). Kylan Phillips added 11 points.

Romain scored 11 points in the first half as the Delta Devils built a 41-27 halftime lead. The Hornets opened the second half with a 25-9 run to tie it at 52-all, then added an 11-6 spurt to take a 63-58 lead and cruised from there.
