EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Connor Cook returned to the lineup for No. 6 Michigan State, starting Saturday's game against Penn State after missing last weekend's victory with a shoulder injury.

The star quarterback was injured against Maryland two weekends ago and was sidelined when the Spartans upset unbeaten Ohio State a week later.

With Michigan State needing a win over Penn State to wrap up a spot in the Big Ten championship game, Cook returned Saturday and took the first offensive snap for the Spartans.

Tyler O'Connor and Damion Terry played quarterback in Cook's absence against Ohio State. Coach Mark Dantonio said during this past week that Cook's status might not be determined until the day of the game against Penn State.
