Peterson with 25 points, VMI beats Presbyterian 76-61

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — QJ Peterson had 25 points with five assists and VMI rolled to a 76-61 victory over Presbyterian on Tuesday night.

Peterson was 10 of 24 from the field with eight rebounds and four steals. Julian Eleby scored 16 points, and Trey Chapman and Jordan Weethee added 11 apiece for VMI (2-2).

DeSean Murray had 26 points and 12 rebounds for Presbyterian (3-2).

The Blue Hose led the entire first half and built a 38-30 halftime lead. Weethee and Peterson made consecutive 3-pointers to cap a 16-5 run to open the second half and the Keydets had their first lead, 46-43. Murray scored three points to tie it at 46. Peterson and Weethee again scored back-to-back 3-pointers to cap a 10-0 surge and VMI led 56-46 midway through the second half.

Ed Drew made a layup to pull the Blue Hose to 56-50 before the Keydets closed on a 20-11 run.
