PROVO — Since returning from a four-game road trip in late January, the Cougars have reeled off four straight wins and find themselves alone in second place in the WCC standings.

"This is a really exciting time for our guys now because we put ourselves in a good position by coming home and getting those four wins," said coach Dave Rose at his weekly radio show at Malawis Pizza. "Each of those games was different. They each had their own challenges, and we found different ways to win."

The Cougars will look to continue their winning streak on the road this week with games at Pacific on Thursday and at Saint Mary's on Saturday.

"Hopefully our confidence is high," said Rose. "We know this will be a real challenge. This is an important road trip for us."

If there is an unsung hero of the current four-game winning streak, it's freshman Luke Worthington. Luke was also the player guest at this week's Rose Show.

"What really impresses me about Luke is his work ethic," said Rose. "He's one of the real leaders in terms of how hard he practices."

According to Rose, Worthington had the two best games of the season last week. The 6-10 forward from Wisconsin posted career highs in points scored (7) against St. Mary's and total rebounds (3) against San Francisco.

"He's one of the real leaders in terms of how hard and consistent he practices," said Rose. "Also, his ability to fit in with any group we have on the court is a real strength."

Despite traveling hundreds of miles to come to BYU for school, Luke's family ties to BYU run deep. His dad grew up in Orem and his Mom was a cheerleader at BYU.

"My dad still has a lot of family out here which is nice," said Worthington. "I have Sunday dinners at my aunt and uncle's house. I've brought Frank (Bartley) along a few times. It's a good time."

During the Q&A period of the show, Rose opened up on transfer Jamal Aytes and his potential at BYU.

"He's on the scout team right now and he puts a lickin' on us every once in awhile," said Rose. "I really look forward to having Jamal in games. He's a really good low-post defender, and I think he's going to be a star here."
