Wagner shines for 10-1 Seahawks in 41-20 win over Vikings

SALT LAKE CITY — After a mid-season struggle, the Seattle Seahawks are back to looking like football’s most complete team.

Sunday, the Seahawks shone once again, beating the Minnesota Vikings, 41-20. And a large part in their runaway victory over Minnesota was due to the play of Utah State alum Bobby Wagner. Wagner made nine tackles, registered a sack and also had an interception, as the Seahawks improved to 10-1.

Robert Turbin carried the ball seven times for 17 yards and also made a catch for 12 yards for Seattle. Former Weber State offensive lineman Paul McQuistan started for the Seahawks as well.

Eric Weddle led the contingent of Utah alumni in the NFL this past week, as he made seven tackles and had a sack in San Diego’s 20-16 loss to Miami. Koa Misi made three tackles for the Dolphins, Derrick Shelby made one tackle for Miami and Paul Soliai also contributed three tackles. Brice McCain made a tackle for Houston in a 28-23 loss to Oakland, and Paul Kruger made two tackles for Cleveland in the Browns’ 41-20 loss to Cincinnati.

Alex Smith completed 21 of 45 passes and threw two touchdown passes in Kansas City’s 27-17 loss to Denver. Smith also rushed for 52 yards. Sean Smith made two tackles for the Chiefs.

BYU alumnus Bryan Kehl made a tackle for Washington in a 24-16 loss to Philadelphia.

Cottonwood’s Stanley Havili rushed once for four yards and also caught a pass for 9 yards in Indianapolis’ 30-27 win over Tennessee.

Utah alumni Star Lotulelei and Steve Smith play on “Monday Night Football,” with the Panthers scheduled to take on the New England Patriots.
