SALT LAKE CITY — Great teams struggle and then they break out of them with redemptive victories.

Seattle is that team in the National Football League this year. The Seahawks haven’t looked quite as dominant over the past few weeks, but they beat Atlanta, the team that knocked them out of the NFC playoffs last season, 33-10, to move to 9-1 on the season.

Utah State alum Bobby Wagner made nine tackles for Seattle in the win, and fellow Aggie Robert Turbin rushed for 13 yards for the Seahawks. Weber State grad Paul McQuistan also started on the offensive line for Seattle.

The University of Utah made its presence felt in the league on Sunday, with several former Utes contributing to their teams' victories. Steve Smith had six catches for 63 yards and Star Lotulelei made a tackles, as Carolina beat San Francisco inside Candlestick Park, 10-9. Also, Eric Weddle made seven tackles for San Diego, but the Chargers lost to Zane Beadles’ Broncos, 28-20. Brice McCain made two tackles for the Texans in a 27-24 loss to Arizona.

BYU’s lone highlight came on Brett Keisel’s two tackles for Pittsburgh, as the Steelers beat the Buffalo Bills, 23-10.

Highland’s Haloti Ngata made five tackles in an overtime victory for the Baltimore Ravens over Cincinnati, 20-17. Stephen Paea registered four tackles for the Bears in a 21-19 loss to Detroit. Also, Cottonwood’s Stanley Havili made three catches for the Colts in the NFL’s upset of the week as Indy lost to St. Louis, 38-8.
