SAN FRANCISCO — In a news conference Wednesday San Francisco 49ers head coach, Jim Harbaugh, named Colin Kaepernick as the team's starting QB for their game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

Former Utah QB Alex Smith will be Kaepernick's backup for the game. Smith was the starting QB for the Niners and led the team to the 2011 NFC Championship game and eventually lost to the New York Giants who went on to win the Super Bowl that season.

Harbaugh continually said he has two very good quarterbacks and two guys who deserve the start. He said the decision to start Kaepernick was difficult, but made sure to mention he has a great deal of respect for the former Ute.

"Alex is a class act and he will prepare as if he's the starter."

USU WAC Champions

The Utah State Aggies are WAC Champions and managed their first 10-win season in school history. The Aggies are now headed to Boise on December 15th for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and a chance to cap off an incredible season.

In honor of the Aggies historic 2012 run, the university's athletic department has put together this video of the championship season. Enjoy.

UofU Highlights vs. Colorado

The Utah Utes had a disappointing season with a 5-7 record and missing a bowl for the first time since 2002.

While the season wasn't quite what fans were hoping for there were still some highlights. Beating BYU would be one, crushing Cal at home another and getting revenge on Colorado in the last game of the season was a definite plus.

Here are some highlights from the game in Boulder, including Reggie Dunn's fourth kickoff return of the year and fifth of his career, another bright spot of the season.

BYU's Seniors and Leaders

The BYU Cougars have one more game this year on December 20th when they take on the San Diego State Aztecs in the Poinsettia Bowl.

Cougar fans have been frustrated with the season, but there have been some great senior performances from some players, especially on defense.

This video highlights the seniors from the Cougars final home game of the season against Idaho.

It's fun to see highlights from players like David Foote and Preston Hadley. It was also good to see a few of James Lark's moments from the game in there, but the best part has to be Ziggy Ansah.

Ansah is everyone's favorite story and watching just a few of his highlights is a blast. So, this is a plea to the BYU multimedia department, please cut together an entire highlight video of just Ziggy. Thanks.
