PROVO — Robert Anae is getting a fresh start in Tucson.

Anae, who resigned last week as BYU's offensive coordinator, was hired Monday by the University of Arizona, a source close to the situation told the Deseret News.

Wildcat coach Mike Stoops lost co-offensive coordinator Bill Bedenbaugh over the weekend to West Virginia. Stoops filled that position by bringing on Anae, who served as the Cougars' offensive coordinator from 2005 to 2010.

At Arizona, Bedenbaugh coached the offensive line in addition to his co-offensive coordinator responsibilities. Seth Littrell has been the other co-offensive coordinator for the Wildcats. Littrell has coached the tight ends and running backs as well.

Last week, there was speculation that Anae might be reunited with former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, who interviewed for the coaching position at Maryland. Anae was the offensive line coach under Leach at Texas Tech from 2000-2004. On Sunday, Maryland hired Connecticut's Randy Edsall as its new head coach.
