PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke left Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies after two innings.

The Diamondbacks said the reason for his departure was tightness in his left oblique.

Greinke drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second, and called the trainer after he went out on the field to start the third. After a conversation with the umpires, Greinke briefly went into the dugout, returned to throw a few warmup pitches from the mound, then left the game for good.

Greinke signed a six-year, $206.5 million contract with the Diamondbacks last offseason. He entered the game 10-3 with a 3.61 ERA and was 7-0 in his previous eight starts.
