LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Even as talks continue in Switzerland on Iran's nuclear program, negotiators don't even seem to be in agreement on what's supposed to happen today.

Iran's deputy foreign minister told reporters that if progress is made on the text of a joint statement, it could be issued by the end of the day -- but he's suggesting that it would contain no specifics.

A senior Western official quickly pushed back, saying that nothing about a statement had been decided. And the official said Iran's negotiating partners would not accept a document that contains no details.

Yesterday, diplomats abandoned a midnight deadline to reach the outline of a deal, and agreed to press on.

According to a tweet from Germany's Foreign Ministry, there's "visible" progress at the talks, although nothing has been agreed to.

Iran says there are still differences on the timing of sanctions relief for his country. The Iranian negotiator also says there are disagreements over Iran's research and development related to uranium enrichment.
