BERLIN (AP) — Germany's Foreign Ministry says it is organizing an international conference on the refugee crisis resulting from the conflicts in Syria and Iraq.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli said Monday that Germany was planning the conference for Oct. 28, "since we can't assume that the situation in Syria will get better in the coming months."

It wasn't immediately clear where the conference would be held.

The announcement comes after Turkish officials said that about 130,000 refugees from Syria had spilled into their country over the past four days as they fled the advance of Islamic State militants.

There have been nearly 3 million refugees, including more than 1 million who have fled into Turkey, since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011.
